San Francisco International Film Festival
April 25 - May 9
The 56th San Francisco International Film Festival will be hosted at the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas, the Castro Theatre and New People Cinema in San Francisco and the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley. This extraordinary showcase of cinematic innovation features 200 films and live events, awards and upwards of 100 participating filmmakers and a diverse audience of more than 70,000.

Girl with a Pearl Earring: Dutch Paintings from the Mauritshuis
The de Young Museum is the first venue in the American tour of paintings from the Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis, The Hague. This museum houses one of the world's most prestigious collections of Dutch Golden Age paintings. An extensive two-year renovation makes this extraordinary opportunity possible. The exhibition features 35 paintings representing the range of subject matter and technique characteristic of 17th-century painting in the Dutch Republic.

October 10 - 13
A San Francisco tradition since 1981, Fleet week is one of the most anticipated events of the fall and draws over 1 million spectators every year. A parade of Navy ships makes it way along the city’s northern waterfront and The Blue Angels take to the sky for a spectacular aerial display.

Garden of California Native Plants
With displays of over 500 taxa (species and cultivars), the four-acre Arthur L. Menzies Garden of California Native Plants features arroyos, ponds and woodlands, and at its center, a wildflower meadow. This historic collection of plants is at its peak bloom now! April and May are the best times to visit and catch a glimpse of bright blue wild lilac amidst a carpet of meadowfoam, iris, poppies and other amazing California native plants.

Asian Art Museum

San Francisco Jazz Center Grand Opening

Afternoon Sailing Adventure on San Francisco Bay
Sail San Francisco Bay aboard the 1891 National Landmark scow schooner Alma. Relax, feel the waves, breathe salt air, handle the lines and learn the stories. Before highways and bridges, hundreds of scow schooners like Alma plied San Francisco Bay, hauling goods as the “flatbed trucks” of their day. The last of her kind, the 60-foot Alma will transport you to a long ago era on this unique educational program with the National Park Service.

Alcatraz Cruises
A trip to San Francisco isn't considered complete until you visit "The Rock". Once home to some of America's most notorious criminals, the federal penitentiary that operated here from 1934 to 1963 brought a dark mystique to the Rock. The presence of infamous inmates like Al "Scarface" Capone, and the "Birdman" Robert Stroud helped to establish the island's notoriety. Sea Lion Interpretive Program
A new visitor outreach program to provide insight into the boisterous world of the hundreds of California sea lions that reside at Pier 39 has been launched. Educators from The Marine Mammal Center and Aquarium of the Bay lead daily discussions 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on the important role the animals play to the Northern California Coast ecosystem, explain their crowd-pleasing habits and answer questions.

Historic Waterfront Walking Tours - Every Sat/Sun
Over the last 160 years, uses changed the environment of San Francisco's northern waterfront. Stroll with a National Park Ranger to discover the history of this vibrant area on a walking tour through the Aquatic Park Historic Landmark District, The Cannery, Hyde Street Pier, and Fish Alley at Fisherman's Wharf. Walt Disney Family Museum
Three historic buildings within the nearby Presidio house 10 galleries devoted to the inspiring story of Walt Disney, the creator of Mickey Mouse, Disneyland and the global company that bears his name. Disney's story is portrayed through drawings, storyboards, a model of Disneyland, the narrow-gauge train built for Disneyland along with film clips, concept art, scripts, musical scores and cameras used by Disney and his staff.

Musee Mecanique
